Insurance-Backed Guarantee

Before you complete your application with us, you will need to select an insurance provider from the list below and complete their own application process:

Application Form

This is the first stage of your application. Here you will just need to tell us about your company, it's people and the disciplines you'd like to apply for.

  1. Create an online account with your email address and a password of your choice
  2. Tell us some basic info about your company, your main contact and finance contact information
  3. Pay your joining fee by credit/debit card (discounted for NFRC members)
  4. Set up your direct debit for your annual fees (we don't take payment until your application is successful)
  5. Agree to our terms and conditions

Probity check

This is the first step we take. Using the information from your application form, we run a basic credit check to ensure that you are financially secure. Sometimes we need a little more information to complete this. If we do, we'll be in touch with your finance contact. Otherwise, there's nothing else you need to do here.

Desk-based audit

Have these documents ready before you start your application, and this step will be quick and easy

  1. Employers liability insurance certificate
  2. Public liability insurance certificate
  3. Health and safety policy
  4. Complaints procedure
  5. Sales contract
  6. 10-year workmanship guarantee

At this point you will also need to sign and return the Contractor Declaration form.

Office Audit

The purpose of this is for our inspectors to review how your business operates in person, from staff training, complaints and contract management as well as the documentation collected from your desk-based audit. When we say office, you don't need a premises to join the Competent Person Scheme. For contractors who don't have a dedicated office, we conduct these audits in their homes, work vans etc. We just need to review this information with you in person, so that we can confirm your business is compliant.

Site Audit

We need to inspect a current works for each discipline that you have applied for. You'll be asked to upload a job onto the portal (don't worry, we'll show you to do it). One of our inspectors will then be in touch to confirm an inspection date.
